New picture in the bedroom

I am really happy that the feng shui of the house has taken another leap!

We bought this picture from a local artist named Clio. She told the story of how it came into matter. She was about to a manifestation in the UK related with peace on earth. But her and her partner diced that the best service to this would be trough art and not from anger. After coming to her studio, she painted this in a huge fabric!

Very beautiful!

It lives now in our bedroom.

New crystals and new plant

New plant (a mini one) in the house!

Together with some important crystals. Good ones for the entrance and to have near the computer.

So happy with them!

And remember, keep calm and dream big, always!

Pine trees and lights!

David arrived today, after a very big walk with Mateus with a small surprise for me!

We both love Christmas and there was still a tree, or kind of a tree, missing in our house. Well, we have it now! In the middle of many many pine trees regrowing after the big fires, some need clearing, so this was perfect!

We used my family’s old Christmas decorations and they look amazing here!

Very happy to have our fairy lights out as well.

Finished curtains

There were only missing the white inside curtains in the bedroom, and here they are now!

Very easily done, with the fabric that once belonged to dancers in our wedding day, I just created a folded edge so I could put a string made of rubber and metal (esticador) and attached it to the edges of the windows with a small metal attachment (camarão).

With this full moon, no light is entering in the bedroom. Now the windows are complete!

David’s birthday

For David’s birthday and and to respond to his coffee passion, I decided to stitch a coffee cup with a Portuguese popular word. You just ask for a cafézinho when in a coffee shop!

It’s another add in the kitchen area, but still not in the final place!

I loved making this surprise for him.

“Habemos” curtains!

So happy to say that the copper curtains are up in the bedroom and the Bordeaux curtain is up in the electrical area.

This means that in full moon nights me and David  sleep so much better (and we did last night!) and that Mateus sleeps without small lights from the power system in his face as well!

Happy family over  here!

I used old curtains from my house in Porto and transformed them. Basically divided them in a way that they would feet our windows in the loft.

This is the bottom part the fabric, so I transformed it in a different way. One side of the bedroom looks a bit different from the it but they both look gorgeous.

Detail of the curtain rail in the electrical part.

Spent all afternoon yesterday sewing,  very happily!

Curtain in one side.

Curtain covering the electrical system.

Curtain rails

While the rain doesn’t stop falling, we keep working on the inside of the Tiny House.

For now, and so much necessary, the curtain rails are being done.

The one for my side of the bedroom, another one to stop the lights at night and preventing Mateus of not having a good sleep, one for the main door, so the cold doesn’t come in and one for the bathroom area until we don’t have a door.

All the wood comes from the land and it’s chestnut.

Cups in place - proper tea and coffee are on the way!

You know when you are in love with some details of some other houses?

Or a dream that you always has since you imagined owning a house?

Well, since always I wanted cups hanging from a shelf. Really! Simple but very much in tune with old traditional Portuguese kitchen cabinets. Since they would be to big to have them here in the Tiny House, we managed to make a dream coming true but slightly different!

I went to the local hardware shop Supermaco (contacts in the contact folder of this website) and bought the hooks (we call the, “camarões” in Portuguese. They only had silver. No problem! 0,10€ each. David painted the, with black spray paint and here they are:

After this, the simple and not so hard work of attaching them to the shelf and to the coffee box.

Oh, I’m in love more and more with our kitchen! With time we can see what works and what doesn’t and we can make the changes needed. So, here it is.
Our new tea and coffee setting.
Ready to go and to enjoy by ourselves and with friends and family a proper tea and a proper coffee.

Art in the kitchen

A small detail that makes such a difference!

This is a postcard from a painting done by Beth Richardson.

A tea moment in the kitchen, in blue, like the kitchen.

Love it!

Outside with new pots

Right where we have the sink, just above it, in the gas house, a new garden was born!

Now seriously, being Portuguese I like to take advantage of anything that can hold a plant in. You can see all kind of different plant pots around here. These crocks are made in Portugal 🇵🇹 - that’s good! - but they got to the end of their time. Big feet, as they were David’s, and mine are going to join these soon. They are good quality, but we just wear a lot our clothes and shoes living in the mountain. It’s quite surreal how this kind of soil and work just wears out the materials so fast compared to living in a flat non country side!

But, coming back to gardening and beautifying the outside of the Tiny House, here we have the new pots with incense plant!

It looks gorgeous and it is a beautiful way to reuse the plastic shoes!
